Patio covers are available in "Insulated covers", which can be used for future conversion to a screen or glass room.  Also available are "Non-Insulated covers", these are great if it will always be just a open patio cover.  Add options to covers like fascia, gutters downspouts, or increase wind resistance by using larger posts and/or beams.
